Philipponnat Champagne Clos Des Goisses Extra Brut 2012
The Clos des Goisses is an extraordinary and distinctive vineyard due to its steep slope. With its 5.5 hectares, it is the oldest clos in Champagne and the steepest, with a 45° inclination. The name itself comes from the dialect term gois , which indicates a hill with a steep side. Facing south, it is located on the best côteau of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, characterized by a chalky soil of exceptional quality.
This Clos des Goisses is distinguished by a vinification almost exclusively in wood (80%), without malolactic fermentation. After an eight-year refinement on the lees, just over 12,020 bottles were produced, an expression of a great vintage and a unique terroir.
