EMIDIO PEPE

Few wineries in Italy can boast such a deep and authentic bond with the territory as Emidio Pepe , a historic winery in Abruzzo. Officially founded in 1964 , its roots date back to the end of the 19th century, and it has always embodied the truest identity of Abruzzo . and its native vines : Montepulciano , Trebbiano and Pecorino .

Today, the tradition continues with the same dedication thanks to daughters Daniela and Sofia Pepe , supported by their granddaughter Chiara . The production approach has remained unchanged over time: organic and biodynamic agriculture , artisanal practices , total absence of invasive interventions in the vineyard and cellar . All this, well before terms like “ natural” and “ sustainable” became market trends .

In the municipality of Torano Nuovo , in the province of Teramo , the vineyards grow on clayey- calcareous soils rich in minerals , caressed by sea currents . coming from the Adriatic and fresh winds of Gran Sasso . Here extraordinary grapes are born , vinified according to ancestral methods : pressing with the feet , spontaneous fermentation in glass- lined cement tanks , no selected yeasts or sulfur , and bottling without filtration .
