The Crops is one of the most renowned wineries in Valdobbiadene , in the heart of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG territory . Located in the hamlet of Santo Stefano , a charming village nestled among the UNESCO heritage hills , the company is now run by the siblings Alberto, Silvia and Veronica Ruggeri , heirs to a tradition begun in 1983 by Cesare and Renato Ruggeri , on lands suited to viticulture since the sixteenth century.
The Le Colture vineyards extend over 40 hectares on steep and parcelled slopes , distributed in the most prized hilly areas of the Valdobbiadene DOCG denomination . The diversity of the soils , combined with the particular climatic conditions – warmer and drier than the average for the area – allows for the production of superior quality grapes , less acidic and with an excellent sugar concentration .
Agronomic management, based on respect for the environment and low yield per vine , favours sustainable practices , with targeted pruning , manual harvesting and careful care of the greenery, in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit and the identity of the terroir.
