Pavelot Pernand - Vergelesses Sous Fréille Premier Cru 2021

The 2021 Pavelot Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru “Sous Frétille” is an outstanding Chardonnay made from a parcel reclassified as a Premier Cru in 2000. It enjoys an elevated south- and southwest-facing exposure, behind the village, on poor, clayey soils with a silt-clay structure on calcareous marl. The vines, with an average age of approximately 50 years, impart a vibrant minerality and great aging potential to the wine. The perfectly balanced 2021 vintage offers a brilliant, harmonious, and deeply expressive wine, a true expression of its terroir. Vinification involves manual harvesting, traditional pressing, and fermentation in oak barrels, followed by 12 months of aging (40% new barriques and the remainder between 1 and 5 wines) and seven months of refinement in stainless steel before bottling.
