During the summer pruning of the family's orange groves, the bark of the strongest branches, rich in sap and with an intense aroma, is recovered and enhanced rather than disposed of, becoming a precious ingredient in this unique amaro.

The bark is left to infuse in alcohol for six months with wild Etna herbs, to which spring water from 1,200 meters up the volcano and a minimal amount of sugar are added.
