The Piollot House has its roots in the heart of Champagne, where it all began in the 19th century with Athanase Piollot (1817-1906), the first member of the winemaking family. Since then, generations of passion and dedication have followed, handing down unique expertise in grape growing and the production of high-quality Champagne.
Two generations later, Robert Piollot expanded the family vineyards and introduced a distinctive element: a plot dedicated to Pinot Blanc, today the basis of the single-varietal Champagne "Colas Robin," 100% Pinot Blanc. In 1955, the Val Colas Robin vineyard was prepared by hand, planted with a pickaxe, a tangible testament to the profound connection with the land.
The launch of the marketing of Piollot Champagne is due to Rolan Piollot, Robert's son, who in 1986 chose to follow the family tradition, abandoning his studies to dedicate himself entirely to viticulture.
Thanks to Robert's pioneering approach, focused on selecting the best plants and observing the vines, the company has embraced a sustainable production philosophy. Over the years, this vision has evolved into a journey toward organic farming, certified since 2014, and subsequently toward biodynamic viticulture.
Today, Piollot Champagne is synonymous with authenticity and respect for nature. Over 50% of the vineyards are over 40 years old, reflecting the family's commitment to preserving ancient and resilient plants. Cultivation follows a biodynamic calendar, based on lunar and planetary cycles, to maximize the natural expression of the terroir.
